We would like to inform Mr. Chairman of the Council, this event has already happened in the history of Italy, more than seventy years ago, and the executive who brought to fruition this great achievement was the government of Benito Mussolini. Only Americans landed in Sicily in the summer of 1943 and the subsequent military occupation, the men of the mafia could go undisturbed in our country, to resume and strengthen even further their illicit activities and their influence throughout the South of 'Italy. We therefore need to Mussolini the merit of her defeat, while the Americans with the "gift" to resent reported ....
We invite the Premier to look at the history before you shoot like this, so as not to show the country and the entire world its total historical ignorance on the subject.
As to the most technical of the matter, we believe that today will be very difficult to overcome such an obstacle, if the Berlusconi government will create more questionable, such as restrictions on the use of wiretaps, or the introduction of the short process, which not help the contrast and the elimination of organized crime. The only solution now to really effectively defeat the mafia can be achieved through the introduction of special laws, such as exactly the same Mussolini introduced by the government and the prefect Mori, during the Fascist era.
