Personalized Running Spikes

Proverbs - Twenty-fifth meeting

continue every Monday as the reading of the Book of Proverbs, we come to the twenty-fifth chapter that has much to teach us just like they did the previous chapters we have read In recent weeks:

1Anche these are proverbs of Solomon,
transcribed by the men of Hezekiah king of Judah.
2e glory of God to conceal things,
is the glory of kings to investigate.
3I heavens for their height, the land for its depth
and the hearts of kings are unexplored.
4Togli the dross from silver
and gold will make him a nice pot;
5togli the wicked from the king
and his throne will be established on justice.
6Non give airs before the king
and do not take the place of big,
7perché is better to be told: "Come up here"
rather than be humiliated in front of a superior.
As your eyes have seen
8non put just outside in a process;
otherwise you will do in the end,
svergognerà you when your neighbor?
9Discuti your cause with your neighbor,
but not reveal the secret of others;
10altrimenti your listeners blame you
and discredit your would be irreparable.
11Come fruits of gold on silver platter
so it is a word spoken in due course.
12Come gold ring and gold necklace
is an essay that warns an attentive ear.
13Come fresh snow at harvest time,
is a true messenger for those who sent him;
he refreshes the soul of his lord.
14Nuvole and wind but no rain,
this is the man who boasts of gifts that do not.
15Con the patience the judge is persuaded,
a soft tongue breaks bones.
16Se you find honey, eat what you enough
to not be sick and then vomit.
17Metti rarely the foot in your neighbor's house,
because you do not get tired of you and take you to hate.
18Mazza, sword and arrow Acute
is he who lays false witness against your neighbor.
19Qual bad tooth and sprained foot
this man's confidence is unfair in times of trouble,
20E take off their clothes in a day drive.
vinegar on a wound alive
these are the songs to a heavy heart.
21Se your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat,
if he is thirsty, give water to drink;
22perché so heap burning coals on his head
and the Lord will reward you.
23THE north brings rain,
speak in a secret provokes outrage on the face.
24Abitare on a corner of the roof is better
a quarrelsome wife and a house in town.
25Come fresh water to a parched throat
is good news from a far country.
26Fontana turbid and polluted source,
this is the right that wobbles in front of the wicked.
27Mangiare too much honey is not good,
or getting caught by flattering words.
28Una dismantled city walls or without
this is the man who can not control his anger.

COMMENT

The chapter that we read today focuses on certain themes or rather under: l ' humility, discretion, love, trust. We read the words of Solomon which have a resemblance to those of Jesus when he said he put in last place because there is someone who invites us to move forward to get honor in front of guests, rather than sit at the top and be driven, in that case making a poor figure. So Solomon anticipates the words of Jesus, the Council not to give us air in front of the powerful and not to take the places of great because they always find someone willing to humiliate us. The pride being hurt there earns evil. Humility is a virtue on the other hand being so good, it makes us money as well. When you exercise the virtue of humility pleasing to the Lord, we come to a state of grace in which the insults of men are like caresses and also when you are happy with little, you always enjoy. We see the proud of our century are enhanced, eat and drink their fill, they buy things all the time, but they are never satisfied because they are not content with what they have. In contrast, the poor, the humble are always satisfied with life, having little and every little achievement for them is a big gain. That's why this chapter we suggest the need to eat and not superfluous, but otherwise is selfish and always think our worry about the empty stomach instead of the poor who need our help so much. And woe be seduced by the flattering words because they mislead people unwise. For every compliment, lowered her head and let us feel more and servants, as it leaves the heart by inflating the compliment us arrogant and pride is an obstacle to holiness.

What about the option? Solomon advises us not to gossip because we risk getting into trouble, there should not be too intrusive. In a nutshell we recommend us to mind our own business, although on this topic would agree investigated, since not all things should be quiet, even in some situations of our business we should not just employment but we'll talk about it again. Speaking at the time was the best thing to do: talk too much nonsense and serves no purpose, be patient, think and speak when needed: this will give good fruit. Rather we should talk less and listen a lot: it makes wise men, as also teaches us the book of Sirach.

Charity: in this case, the words of Solomon, a lot like that of Jesus: If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat, if he is thirsty, give him water to drink; ; For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink (Mt 25:35) and adds: and the Lord will reward you. Jesus identifies himself with the prisoners when he says in prison and you came to , while men see them as enemies to be removed. What we call enemies are truly our brothers and it is for these reasons that Jesus identifies with all of us. When Jesus says love your enemies will tell you: love your brother whom you see as enemies are not enemies, but because you are all children of one Father.

Finally we stopped on trust: to lose the trust of others is the price for our sins, we have betrayed We lured him the contempt of others. And it is sad to feel away from others for our sins, for our folly. But thank the Father who gives us every day to change for good. If we follow the advice of this scripture we are wise and pleasing to God

the last part of the chapter concludes by defining the short-tempered man like a city broken up: in fact the real strengths are those who can control themselves, the meek are those who learn from Jesus
