Saturday of the Psalms - Psalm 44 - Lamento national

Psalm 44

National Lament
[1] To the choirmaster. Of the sons of Korah. Maskil.

[2] God, with our ears have heard,
our fathers have told us
the work you did in their days,
in ancient times.
[3] You to plant with your hand you have uprooted peoples,
to their place, you have destroyed peoples.
[4] Since the land conquered by the sword,
nor did their own arm save them;
but your arm and your right
and the light of your face,
because you loved them.

[5] You are my king, my God,
you decide victories for Jacob.
[6] For you have rejected our opponents
in your name we crushed our attackers.

[7] In fact, not in my bow I told
and saved me my sword,
[8] but you've saved us from our competitors,
have confused our enemies.
[9] In God we glory every day,
endless celebrating your name.

[10] But now we have rejected and put to shame,
and no longer go out with our armies.
[11] You have made us flee in the face of opponents
and our enemies have plundered us.
[12] We have delivered as sheep to be slaughtered,
hast scattered us among the nations.
[13] You sold your people for nothing,
on their price have not earned.
[14] You make us the scorn of our neighbors,
to ridicule and scorn those around us.
[15] You make us the story of the people,
upon us the nations shake their heads.
[16] The shame is before me
and shame covers my face
[17] to the voices of those who insult and blasphemy,
front of the enemy who desires revenge.

[18] All this has happened to us
and you were not forgotten,
had not betrayed your covenant.
[19] He did not look back on our hearts,
our feet had not left your path;
[20] But thou hast killed in a place of jackals
and we've wrapped in dark shadows.
[21] If we had forgotten the name of our God
and extended his hands to a foreign god,
[22] that maybe God would not have discovered,
he knows the secrets of the heart?
[23] For you we face death every day,
accounted as sheep for slaughter.

[24] Why do you sleep, O Lord ?
Awake, we do not reject forever.
[25] Why do you hide your face,
forget our affliction and oppression?

[26] For we sink down in the dust,
our bodies are lying on the ground.
Rise up, come to our help
[27] Save us in your love.

COMMENT

Save us in your love. It 's the phrase that many men would say in times so unfortunate. It seems sometimes that the Lord will you forget us, but it is not like that, because we think that, but God never forgets His children. In the first reading of a few days ago, the Lord by the prophet Isaiah told the people of Israel (and also to each of us): " is a woman forget her child, so no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, I will not forget you never " (Isaiah 49:15). The Lord does not forget any of his children because he loves them and that is why men submit to hardships because the greater the suffering the more profit. It will certainly happen each of us to say at least once in their life, Lord, why do you sleep? Why do not you help me? words are perhaps unfair because the Lord loves us and is always close, but at the same words justified by the evidence procured from suffering. The cross seems'd have to think more than usual under his weight and feel exhausted, but we also know that Jesus does not put a cross on his shoulders ever that we can not bear, but a cross proportionate to our force

Psalm today, however, is the lament of Israel for all the setbacks it is undergoing. Jews are wondering why the Lord helps them more when an operating time of great miracles among the people of Israel. Why leave us Lord asks the people of Israel, we remained faithful to thee, make haste to save us, do not hide your face. The Lord has compassion for the suffering and when he sees his children complain softly without arrogance, even more comes to their aid. You see, there is also the right way to complain. Some people complain about swearing and this is a behavior totally unacceptable, and with sweet nostalgia of those who complains about God too much suffering for the '"absence" of God, when in truth God is never absent, but it looks like for our little faith.

God loves us so much that they stayed with us under the Eucharistic species. He wanted to stay with us to stay close to our needs and listen to our sweet tears. Jesus loves us and that's good news that we bring to our brothers: Jesus loves you, goes' to the Tabernacle, or Eucharistic adoration for Jesus is there for you, to relieve your suffering.

The Lord knows all about us and he knows what we are experiencing at the exact moment in which we suffer. We must only believe in Him and rely on His mercy and He will not take long to alleviate our sufferings.

We often say when we are in despair: "Lord, save us for Thy mercy.
